The in- form and high on confidence Indian side who have continued their winning streak right from the start of the year in T20 format is all geared up for the big tournament on the home soil. Well, the side looks well balanced and is ready to produce the goods. The team is one of the biggest contender for the cup and has the ability and capability to win the cup and surely the players will put down a good show for the same. They will try their best for the same reason.
The Indian team will play much needed warm up matches against West Indies and South Africa before kicking off their campaign against the New Zealand side. The same New Zealand side against which Indian team has not won a single match till now. Yes, that’s true. The 2007 World T20 champions lost only a match in that tournament and that to against the Kiwis.
In all, the Indian team has faced the New Zealand side four times but every time it was the Kiwi side which had the honours of winning the match. The first loss of Indian team against New Zealand came in the World Cup of 2007 in Johannesburg. After that, India was whitewashed in the two-match T20 series against the NZ side when the Indian team toured New Zealand.
In 2012, New Zealand toured India to play test series and T20 series. Indian team won the test series and fans were expecting for a good show in T20 series too but the hosts side lost the nail-biting match by just 1 run. This match also marked the comeback of Yuvraj Singh in the international circuit.
This record will surely scare the Indian side ahead of the World Cup. Though Indian side has the best bowling attack and a power packed batting line up too but it will be a big challenge for the home side to cop up with the mental pressure as this will surely have an impact on their game.
The Indian team will look to break the years old streak.
