Bihar Defeat Arunchal Pradesh by an Innings and 870 runs

In an extraordinary turn of events, Bihar’s under-16 cricket team defeated Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 870 runs. The Bihar boys registered this sensational win in the Vijay Merchant Trophy at the Energy stadium in Patna. The match saw several records being shattered. The biggest margin of victory by an innings in Test cricket is by 579 runs which the West Indies achieved against Australia in 1938.
Bihar won the toss and bowled first. They dismissed AP for a mere 83 runs on the first day of the match. They then declared their first innings with a huge score of 1007/7 on the third day. Bihar’s wicket-keeper batsman Binny scored a 380 ball 358 runs which included 36 boundaries. Number four batsman Prakash scored a 222-ball 220 runs and opening batsman Arnav Kishor scored a 129 ball 161.
Binny and Prakash combined for the third wicket and added 401 runs in just 67.2 overs punishing all the Arunachal bowlers. Except for this mammoth partnership the innings had three more hundred runs partnership. The opening stand between Rajesh (54) and Arnav Kishor (161) added 182 runs, while the fourth wicket added 109 and the fifth-wicket pair added 131 runs.
Arunachal used nine bowlers in the innings out of which just three managed to pick up wickets. Two bowlers A Sharma (4/276 in 41.1 overs) and Milon Dey (1/296 in 41 overs) conceded more than 200 runs.
In the second innings, Arunachal was bundled out for an embarrassing total of just 54 runs. Six batsmen departed without troubling the scorers as No three batsman Latyir Damin top scored with 31 off 91 balls. Bihar bowler Reshu Raj scored six wickets for just 23 runs whereas his opening bowling partner Suraj claimed three wickets.
