The Biopic Is On The 1983 World Cup Win, Not Me - Kapil Dev 1

The main lead of India’s historic 1983 Cricket World Cup triumph, Kapil Dev, will soon witness and relive his life’s greatest moment on the big screen as Phantom Films prepares to create a biopic o the subject soon.

The buzz surrounding the flick has already caught up. The movie is set to directed by Kabir Khan and will be co-produced by Vikramaditya Motwane. It is understood that the scripting work has reached its penultimate stages and the casting has already begun with the biggest development coming form of Ranveer Singh’s involvement.

The superstar is all set to play Kapil Dev’s part, and it is reported that he has already started to prepare for the role.

But, as soon the news broke about the production house signing Ranveer Singh, a rumour, reflecting that the movie is a biopic on Kapil Dev himself started to go viral. This prompted Kapil Dev to come out and clarify the misconceptions.

“First of all, it’s not a film on me, so it’s not my biopic,” the legendary cricketer asserts. “It’s a film on the 1983 World Cup win. It is not about me. So I guess all of us will be there.”

He even went to reveal that he wasn’t even aware that Ranveer has been roped in to play his part.

“I have no idea about all that. All I know is that they’re making a film on the 1983 World Cup.”

The 1983 win, rated as one of the greatest underdogs wins in the history of Indian sports, remains the most revered memory in the minds of cricket fans whether young or old. The final announcement of the movie’s plan will be made on September 27 in Mumbai.
