Wishes were pouring in from all corners for former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs who was celebrating his 43rd birthday on Thursday (February 23). And the International Cricket Council also made sure to wish the former swashbuckling opener through their official Twitter account. However, a slight mistake in their message made them a subject of troll on the social media before they deleted the tweet.
In its tweet, ICC wrote, “6, 167 Test runs, 8,94 ODI runs, 400 T20I runs. Happy Birthday to former South Africa batsman @hershybru.”
But there was a slight mistake in the tweet as the ICC wrote 894 runs instead of Gibbs’ tally of 8, 094 ODI runs.
The retired cricketer was quick to point out the mistake and tweeted, “Thanks think I might have got a few more ODI.”

Realising their mistake, the ICC quickly corrected their mistake and once again wished Gibbs.

Oliver Jones, who handles ICC’s twitter handle, also apologised to Gibbs before saying that it was a genuine mistake.
Apologies Herschelle. A genuine typo 😉

The hilarious turn of events closed with Gibbs thanking the ICC again for their birthday wish.

The former Proteas star, who still holds the record of being the only player to have hit six sixes in an ODI game, represented South Africa in 361 international games, scoring over 14,000 runs with the help of 35 centuries.
