Bitter Political Ties Responsible For No India-Pakistan Series: Shahryar Khan

Shahryar Khan, Pakistan Cricket Board chief, has said that there is no chance of series between India ad Pakistan until the political ties between two countries improve,
“Let me say it very categorically, there is no chance of a Pakistan vs India bilateral series unless the political ties between the two countries are improved,” Shahryar Khan said.
“But as soon as political tension is defused, cricket will automatically resume,” he added.
India and Pakistan were to play a series this year as per the FTP agreement but Indian team didn’t agree to play due to the bitter relations between the two nations. Pakistan has always demanded a series against India citing the terms of the contract but it is the political relations between the two nations which haven’t allowed any matches.
Though Pakistan travelled India during the T20 World Cup 2016 but there as well one of the Pakistan matches was moved out of Himachal Pradesh to Kolkata due to political issues. The chances of any bilateral series between the two nations are in deep waters as of now.
However, India and Pakistan are set to meet other at the Champions Trophy 2017 in England but there are still uncertainties over this as BCCI president, Anurag Thakur, has said that Indan team will walk out of the game and will award two points to Pakistan but there was a certain change in his stand as, during the last meeting of Asian Cricket Council meeting held in Colombo, Anurag Thakur floated the idea of a tri-series or a quadrangular series involving India, Pakistan and other teams.
Still, there are no clear indications from BCCI and it looks like PCB has also now lost hope of playing a bilateral series against India.
