New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult has won the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal as the player of the year and that denied his captain Kane Williamson a chance to win it three times in a row.
Boult has been in exceptional form specially in Test cricket and he picked up 15 wickets in New Zealand’s recent series against England and rightly so he has been also named as the Test cricketer of the year. He has 77 wickets to his name in the judging period for the award.

Meanwhile, Ross Taylor won the ODI player of the year award for his brilliant form in the last few months and who can forget his blistering knock of 181 runs against England in the recently concluded series.
In the shortest format of the game, it wasn’t quite difficult to chose the player of the year and it was none other than Collin Munro who averaged 57 in T20Is during the period and also played some firing knocks in New Zealand’s last few T20I series.

The 34-yeard old batsman Taylor was also awarded the Redpath Cup for the best first-class batting, while Neil Wagner was awarded the Winson Cup for the best first-class bowling.
Left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel was awarded as the best domestic cricketer while his team-mate Anton Devcich won the Super Smash player of the year.
Among the women’s team, Sophie Devine won both the ODI and T20I player of the year award. In the domestic circuit, Maddy Green and Holly Huddleston were given the Ruth Martin and Phyl Blacker Cups for the best domestic batter and bowler award. Seventy-one-year old Pat Malcon was awarded the Bert Sutcliffe Medal for Outstanding Services to Cricket.
