Trent Boult, New Zealand pacer has shown his excitement to play a day-night Test when they travel to India in October. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai would be the perfect venue to host the pink ball Test though no official confirmation has been made yet. “The ball swings nicely here in India most of the time as well. The spin bowlers also spin it a lot. It’s going to be pretty exciting if it happens.” Boult said.
New Zealand and Australia both teams played their first pink ball Test in Adelaide. “The experience of playing the Test with the pink ball was great, the buzz was fantastic. It’s definitely exciting for Test cricket, and we need to see more of it,” he said. Trent Boult took five wickets in the second innings of that Test.
The calls for more day-night Tests started getting louder following the inaugural pink-ball cricket, with Australia and Pakistan already locked into play under lights at the Gabba in December. Australia are also planning to play another pink-ball Test against South Africa at the Adelaide Oval in the third of a three-Test series in November. Earlier, New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult has stated that his side should take a leaf out of Australia‘s reverse swing abilities which were effectively executed in the opening Test match of the two-match series in Wellington.
