They bowled quite well, we made some mistakes: Kane Williamson

The New Zealand cricket team failed to turn the tables in the limited overs format and continued their dusty and rough form in the first ODI of the series as well. Kiwis were outplayed in the first ODI as none of New Zealand batsman could stand up against the strong Indian bowling line up thus losing the form right from the start causing an epic downfall for New Zealanders. None of the Kiwi batsman other than Tom Latham could really live up to the expectations as it looked like they are coming to the crease because they had to come. Their batsmen were gifting their wickets to Indian bowlers. None of the batsmen could really post his foot on the crease. The fast bowling spearhead Tim Southee, though, came to rescue along with Tom Latham to post a defendable total on the board but could not post a huge total which could assure them a win. Both Latham and Southee scored a half century with Latham becoming the first Kiwi batsman to carry the bat in ODI’s.
Captain Kane Williamson took a note of it and said “They bowled quite well, they were swinging the ball at the start. We made some mistakes, we did perform well but it was quite late till then. We should have taken some early wickets. Indian team is a great team and they showed us today that we have to play as a team. This is the only way by which we can defeat them” .
An amused and mesmerized Dhoni showered praises on teammates, especially on fast bowlers for their good performance which caused a slump in Kiwi batting line up “The fast bowlers bowled quite well. Our bowlers were hitting the perfect line and length. The openers also provided a good start with Virat carrying on the good form. We needed a bowler who can bowl at speed of 130-140, the way like Hardik bowls” said Dhoni.
The debutant, Hardik Pandya, who won the Man of the Match award on his debut also seemed to be quite amusing post the completion of the game and said “Winning the Man of the Match award is a great feeling. I heard in the dressing room that Kapil Dev will be presenting me the debut cap, that was the best part. I bowled well against Australi A , I wanted to bowl same here as well. Bowling the right length was quite crucial on this pitch, I am happy that I was successful” concluded the debutant Hardik Pandya.
