Mustafizur rehman

Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is all set to join Bangladesh Premier League outfit Rajshahi Kings squad on November 8 for the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, the franchise confirmed in a press release on Tuesday (November 7). However, the Bangladesh star’s return to action will not take place soon as he is still recovering from the leg injury he suffered during the tour of South Africa last month.

The franchise stated that the player is undergoing rehabilitation and would not be rushed into action.

“He is currently completing his rehabilitation process from the injury he suffered in South Africa and progressing quite well,” a press release from the franchise stated. “Mustafizur is an asset of the country and his full recovery is the first and foremost priority,” the release added.

After managing just three wickets in the two-Test series, Mustafizur had missed the ODI series against the Proteas with an ankle injury. He had stayed with the team but returned to Bangladesh after failing to recover from the injury which was the 13th instance of the bowler picking up an ankle injury.

And to avoid another such injury, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury had made it clear that the team-management would not allow the bowler to return to action without fully recovering.

“This is the 13th day of Mustafizur’s lateral ankle injury,” Chowdhury had said.“We have to keep in mind that lateral ankle strain is a bad injury. If he returns to playing with proper rehabilitation, then the injury may return in the future. So we want him to recover fully, even if it means he has to miss a few BPL matches,” he had added.

Meanwhile, Cricbuzz has reported that the left-arm pacer is unlikely to return before the Chittagong phase of BPL 2017, which starts from November 24. The Bangladesh pace spearhead had played only in the 2015 BPL and had skipped the last season due to a shoulder injury.
