After Bangladesh authorities have cracked down on international business syndicate, who are trying to misrepresent the gentleman’s game, as many as five Indians got caught during the illegal activity, according to the report carried by AFP.

“We have handed them over to police as this is the most we could do. They will take further action,” Jalal Yunus, who’s a spokesman for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was quoted as saying by AFP.

Bangladesh law enforcement agency is looking forward to deporting the perpetrators when police caught them during the ongoing seven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) tournament.

Interestingly, the news surfaced when the alleged bookmakers were apprehended at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla when one of the fixtures was taking place. Pertinently, the lucrative professional Twenty20 domestic league is spread across 38 days which kicked off on November four, and the grand finale is scheduled on December 12.

However, following the legal procedures, Bangladesh authorities decided the culprits would get deported to the country of birth.

“In the process of deporting them to India”, the police head Nazrul Islam asserted.

As gambling has been a major headache for the officials concerned regarding such competitions, the cricket officials were seen handing over the criminals to the police.

After the incident took place at the Home of Cricket for Bangladesh, the administrators have had swung into action to monitor the activities closely in the remainder of the tournament fixtures.

Since the inception of the tournament in 2012, the league has witnessed the bookmakers activated their links owing to the gambling which has further been the huge cause of concern for the world cricket body International Cricket Council (ICC).

Surprisingly, two of the accused men were also tracked down by police when England toured Bangladesh for the two-match Test series in 2016 (October).

It’s pertinent to mention the top international players are concurrently participating in the BPL competition with few in the form of Windies’ Chris Gayle followed by Brendon McCullum and Yorker specialist Lasith Malinga.

As we have seen in the recent past, many players were found guilty following the spot-fixing scandals, as the different Boards of the cricket have had tightened the noose to keep the players aware about the Anti-Corruption rules and regulations.

Apart from Bangladesh, Gambling is also illegal in India which has also witnessed a major overhaul after 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) scandal.

On the other side, BPL has been also under a cloud of match-fixing which lured players as well in the first two season of the league.

Earlier, according to The Daily Star, over six-dozen spectators were expelled from the stadium earlier this month (November) following the betting suspicion.
