Brad Hogg Selects His Test XI Of 2019

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has selected his Test XI of the year, 2019. Hogg selected Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal in his team. Rohit was thrown the opening opportunity in the Test fold and he was able to grab it with both hands. The right-hander scored 556 runs in the five-Test matches he played.
Mayank Agarwal was able to carry his domestic form to the International circuit as he was India’s leading run-getter of the year with 754 runs in eight Test matches. Hogg selected Australia’s batsman Marnus Labuschagne as his number three batsman.
No Pat Cummins in Hogg’s team.
Labuschagne is the highest run-scorer of the year as he clubbed 1022 runs in 2019. Steven Smith who had an outstanding Ashes series makes the cut into Brad Hogg’s Test team of the year.
The former Australian skipper amassed 873 runs in seven Test matches. Indian skipper Virat Kohli who continued his sublime form bats at number five for Brad Hogg. Kohli smashed 612 runs in eight Test matches of the year.
England’s World Cup and Ashes hero Ben Stokes who had a stunning year gets a place in Hogg’s team of the year. The southpaw batsman accumulated 772 runs in 10 Test matches in 2019.
The former Australian spinner picked New Zealand’s keeper BJ Watling in his team. The right-hander had a great year for the KIwis as he scored 530 runs in seven Test matches.
The pace battery includes Mitchell Starc, Ishant Sharma and Neil Wagner. Mitchell Starc scalped 40 wickets in seven Test matches whereas Neil Wagner took 36 scalps in five matches. Ishant Sharma snared 25 wickets in six Test matches. Nathan Lyon who took 41 wickets in the year is the sole spinner in the side.
