Former West Indies captain Brian Lara is in full praise of Virat Kohli’s captaincy as he labels him the ultimate captain. Virat Kohli, in his captaincy period, has registered many new records as a captain as well as a batsman.

Virat Kohli is admired for his execution and the technique he plays in the field. After MS Dhoni left the captaincy, he has taken the command of the team very well. He leads the No.1 Test team in the world and has become the most successful Test captain of India. Under his captaincy, India has played 50 Test matches and won 30 matches which are most by an Indian captain.

In terms of his performances, Virat Kohli leads by example – Brian Lara

Kohli is one point behind from Steve Smith to become the No.1-ranked Test batsman. Virat Kohli’s last double century in Pune ground against South Africa was admirable as he led the team to set a big total. Brian Lara applauded his captaincy style and opines that he has taken the command of team India very well after Dhoni.

“He’s (Kohli) the ultimate captain. In terms of his performances, he leads by example. And I mean that in all facets of the game, and off the field too. He is coming off very well in the background of MS Dhoni, who laid the foundation, and did things in a different way,” Brian Lara told reporters in Mumbai.

“So, I think Indian cricket, as we all know, is headed in the right direction. It’s influenced by some of the best people, and is reaping the benefits of it,” he added.

His consciousness about fitness has helped him to set himself for a long period in the field. In the last Test match, Virat Kohli crossed 7000 runs and has scored his 26th century in the longest format.

Under his captaincy, India first time registered the Test series victory on Australian soil. Also under his captaincy, India has defeated South Africa, Sri Lanka, England and West Indies in Test series.
