The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), on Thursday (June 15), finally announced the dates and the venues for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The announcement was delayed for various reasons with the venue being the biggest concern after BCCI announced that Team India will not visit Pakistan for the tournament.
And as expected, the tournament will be hosted in a hybrid model where Pakistan, who were originally given the hosting rights, will be hosting some games while other games will be held at a neutral venue. Sri Lanka have been finalised as the neutral venue. The decisions were taken after the latest ACC meeting chaired by its chairman and BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Asia Cup 2023 dates and venues announced:
The ACC has announced that Asia Cup 2023 will be played from August 31st to September 17th. A total of 13 matches will be played in the competition – 4 in Pakistan and 9 in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and debutant Nepal will be participating in the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. Lahore will be hosting the games in Pakistan.
The six teams have been divided into two groups. India, Pakistan and Nepal are in Group A while reigning champions Sri Lanka are in Group B along with Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4s.
“We are delighted to announce that the Asia Cup 2023 will be held from 31st August to 17th September 2023 and will see the elite teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal, compete in a total of 13 exciting ODI matches,” ACC stated.
“The tournament will be hosted in a hybrid model with four matches being held in Pakistan, and the remaining nine matches being played in Sri Lanka.
