Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) may take a major hit as their day to day operations could be ceased with a mail from Lodha panel which they are yet to receive, BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke earlier revealed .
However, the board has not received any instructions from the apex court on how to proceed and due to the ongoing situation in the cricketing body, no urgent decisions could be made on Indian Premier League or upcoming home series against England, a top official in the board has revealed.
“We sent the letter detailing a lot of day-to-day stuff we need to do. If you don’t get a clarification quickly the operations can come to a standstill. Since the court has appointed the committee as the custodian, we have asked it to advise us or take the decisions [itself],” a senior BCCI officer revealed to espncricinfo.com.
“Now when you stop all contracts, then our day-to-day commercial contracts comes to a halt. For everything we have to take reference from them,” he added.
BCCI has been facing problems in the recent days as Supreme Court has made it mandatory to follow the guidelines set by the Lodha Panel earlier. BCCI had to indefinitely stop the tender process for the TV and digital rights for the upcoming editions of Indian Premier League (IPL) last week which has brought a lot of criticism to the board.
Lodha Committee is appointed by the Supreme Court post the match-fixing scandal in IPL in 2013 which has seen the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals face a two-year ban which will be ended next year.
The committee has made a number of recommendations to bring the premier cricket board in aligning to the rules of Supreme Court and a legal battle had happened over the last few weeks between the two as BCCI were reluctant to apply some of the recommendations made by the panel.
