Breaking: Hardik Pandya To Lead India A In Warm Up Game Against Australia
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is chosen as the captain for the India A side that will play against the touring Australian team in the warm-up game before the four-match test series.
The selection panel has enclosed the 15-member squad for the warm-up game while announcing the squad for the one-off test against Bangladesh which will be played from February 8 in Hyderabad.
The warm-up against Australia will be played from February 16-18 in the CCI stadium, Mumbai. Hardik Pandya has been a regular team member in the shorter formats of the game and the selectors have decided to give him another chance in the longer format of the game as he could become an asset for the team in the future.
Pandya is yet to make his test debut for India but he was initially named in the Indian squad for the test series against England. He will look to utilise the opportunity to add up to his credentials after his impressive performances with both bat and ball for India in ODIs.
He will also be part of the warm-up game against Bangladesh which will be led by Abhinav Mukund. The selectors have filled the squad with young talent as they are keen to see the resolve the youngsters who have proven their mettle in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy.
Priyank Panchal and Shreyas Iyer have been retained from the squad of India A that will play against Bangladesh while Akhil Herwadkar and Ankit Bawne are added to the squad.
Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Nadeem have yet again got the nod with their good performances in the Ranji while Krishnappa Gowtham has been called as the third spinner. Navdeep Saini, Ashok Dinda and Mohammed Siraj complete the pace attack while Rahul Singh and Baba Indrajith have also earned a spot in the squad on the back of their impressive run in the domestic tournament.
