MS Dhoni

Indian movie MS Dhoni- The Untold Story have made it to the 336 long list of movies that made cut to 2016 Oscar nominations.

Apart from MS Dhoni- The Untold Story, Randeep Hooda’s Sarabjit has also made it to the list as both the movies fulfilled the criteria to join the list of films in contention for the best picture Oscar that was announced by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences  on Wednesday.

The criteria to make it to the 2016 Oscars is that the movie must have been played in a commercial theatre in Los Angeles County between January 1 and December 31 for at least seven consecutive days and should have a running time of more than 40 minutes.

MS Dhoni- The Untold Story was the movie based on the real-life story of India’s most successful captain MS Dhoni as it has got great reviews from fans as well as critics when it was released on September 30.

Sushant Singh Rajput who portrayed the role of MS Dhoni has won the plaudits across the country as the movie became the second biggest opener of 2016 in Bollywood. It has also managed to collect over 100cr at the box office ensuring it is a commercial success as well, unlike previous biopic genre movies.

Despite being making the list MS Dhoni- The Untold Story should fight with awards season favourites ‘La La Land,’ ‘Moonlight,’ ‘Manchester by the Sea,’ ‘Silence,’ ‘Arrival’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge.’ Superhero movies ‘Deadpool,’ ‘Suicide Squad,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ if it has to win the prestigious Oscar.

Whether the movie wins the Oscar or not, it has already reached many millions in India and to get the cut to Oscar alone is an achievement for the prestigious movie.
