Pakistan legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis have praised Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as the latter has achieved 200 test wickets earlier today.
The 30-year old is in the form of his life as he managed another 10-wicket haul which saw the hosts India win the first test against New Zealand comprehensively by 197 runs.
The iconic 500th test has also seen Ashwin pick up 200 test wickets when he removed New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. Ashwin has taken 37 test matches to achieve the feat which made him the second fastest ever to achieve the milestone in the history of test cricket.
Ashwin has been pivotal for Indian test captain Virat Kohli as he proved to be the best striking bowler for India in tests. The 30-year old has been playing a massive role in India’s test success as he recently won the man of the series award in West Indies as India have won the series 2-0 comfortably.
Waqar Younis has taken his twitter handle to appreciate the India spinner after his achievement as the Pakistani legend wrote: “I congratulate @ashwinravi99 on taking 200 Test wickets in such a short time, got the potential of breaking many records. #OutStandingEffort”

The off-spinner still has a long way to go in his career and he hopes to remain the striker bowler for India in the coming years as the guidance of legendary Indian spinner and Team India coach Anil Kumble could make the difference in his career as it goes along.
Coincidentally, he broke Waqar Younis record for the fastest Asian to reach 200 test wickets. Waqar took 38 tests to achieve the milestone while Ashwin managed it in 37 test matches.
The 30-year old has also admitted he is not carried away with the records as he is concentrated on the next coming test match. However, we hope that he carries on his fine form and become one of the greatest spinners in world cricket in the coming years.
