Want to be a professional cricketer?
Cricket has seen several stalwarts coming through the ranks to play at the highest level. However, only very few cricketers have been consistent across formats. Players like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Steven Smith, Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam have delivered the much-needed amends for their respective teams and are leading the example.
However, only two names keep repeating in the game of cricket, and they are none other than Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. The on-field rivalry between Kohli and Smith added another layer of thrill and excitement. But, cricket experts picked Virat Kohli over Steve Smith because Kohli is the best batsman across formats.
Brett Lee rates Steve Smith over Virat Kohli
Meanwhile, former Australia pacer Brett Lee thought otherwise and said that he would instead choose Steve Smith over Virat Kohli because of what Smith has gone through in his career. Brett Lee also reckons that Steve Smith can be as good as Don Bradman was.
“Look, it is so hard to pick, there are so many qualities in both that I enjoy, from the bowling of point I am trying to look are there any flaws in both batsmen, both of these batsmen are genuine,” Brett Lee said in an Instagram live session with former Zimbabwe pacer Pommie Mbangwa.
“Kohli is technically sound, he hits through the V, he used to knick off earlier in his career, but it is hard to do that now, he is a great leader of his side, I think he would love to win the IPL. Steve Smith has been through a lot in the last couple of years, he has seen a rise with the way he played in the last 12 months, he is so fidgety, sometimes you are like just relax mate. At the moment I would choose Smith over Kohli because of what he has been through and what he has to overcome, they are two great players, I think Smith can be as good as Don Bradman, there have been talks of him becoming just like Bradman looking at the numbers,” Brett Lee added.
Both Kohli and Smith have redefined modern-day batting with their exquisite appetite to score runs for the team. The aggressive players, at times. Let their emotions take over, but as far as their batting is concerned, they give absolutely everything for the team.
