Brian Lara Gives The Trick How Can India Win The World Cup
The Indian team recently has always been successful in making their place in the last four stages in the ICC tournaments but has failed it to convert in victory. The West Indies legend Brian Lara has special advice for the Indian cricketers to win the ICC tournaments.
In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the Indian team played the semi-final but could not make into final. Virat Kohli-led Indian team lost the semi-final match against New Zealand by 18 runs. The unfortunate Indian team lost the wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma early which led the team to struggle for scoring runs. The allrounder Ravindra Jadeja and wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni gave stability to the team. However, they could not hand over the victory to the team.
Brian Lara gave the reason why India could not make it to the final of the recent World Cups. He opines that everyone knows that India will surely come to the semi-final or final of the big tournaments.
“You have one of the best sides. Everybody is lining you up. It’s like fait accompli— India is going to make the semis or the knockouts. So everybody is gearing up for that match. You look at the way New Zealand played against India. They knew who to target. India has to appreciate that the invincibility of West Indies in 1975 and 1979 and Australia (in 1999, 2003, 2007) was because they ticked all the boxes.”
If Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma don’t score, it is easy to beat India – Brian Lara
According to Lara, it is known how to target the Indian team. If India loses the wickets of the two important players – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the opposition could easily register the victory, he said. Lara said that if the Men in Blue work on their whole final XI and are given right direction, they will surely win many World Cups.
“The Aussies were so dominant and in 2003 and 2007, they were the strongest. But they made sure they ticked all the boxes and stayed a step ahead of every single team. You felt there is always an opportunity to beat India if Kohli and Rohit don’t score. India has to make sure that all 11 players move in one direction and know their role, at every single stage. (Then) they can win many, many World Cups.”
