West Indies Legend Brian Charles Lara has picked his semi-finalists for the ICC World Cup 2015. He expects Australia to defeat Pakistan and face India in the semi-final at Sydney on March 26th. In the other semi-final at Auckland, Lara feels that West Indies will cruise past New Zealand in the quarter-finals to face South Africa, who he expects will overpower Sri Lanka in their quarter-final match at SCG.

Currently, India are riding high on confidence after staying undefeated in their Pool matches. They no only maintained their winning streak against Pakistan in the World Cup, but also ended their losing streak against South Africa in the mega event. On the other hand, co-hosts Australia have been on a role courtesy the stupendous effort as a whole. Each and every one has clicked in their department and it looks like that Pakistan might find it hard to get past them.

South Africa, who were on a rampage against the minnows in their Pool matches, lost to India and Pakistan while chasing. But Brian Lara feels that South Africa have the team and the fire-power to go the distance in this tournament. As for West Indies, Lara feels that Jason Holder’s leadership can see them through against New Zealand, who also remained undefeated in all their Pool matches.

During an interview with NDTV, Lara said:

“I feel a bit patriotic but I see West Indies beating New Zealand in Wellington because they have the team.”

Former India Test specialist VVS Laxman also predicted his semi-finalists. He expects India to face Australia at Sydney but in the other semi-final, he feels New Zealand will face South Africa.
