ToggleFormer Indian World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has recently claimed that the Indian captain Virat Kohli‘s opinion about the Indian coach should be respected.
The present Indian captain Virat Kohli has a special bonding with the current head coach Ravi Shastri. After the conclusion of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, Ravi Shastri has taken the head coach role of the national team. Earlier, he was the team director of this team from August 2014 to June 2016.
Initially, Shastri had the contract of the present role till the end of 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. He has earned a 45-day extension for this post as he is now available for the national team till the end of the West Indies and USA tour.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has started to find out the next coaching staffs. The present coaching members also can re-apply for their current posts.
Before leaving India for the Caribbean tour, Indian captain Virat Kohli supported the present head coach. Kohli claimed that he would be happy if Shastri remained India’s head coach.

Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy are the members of newly formed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), who will take the interview of the short-listed candidates.

Recently, Kapil Dev claimed that they would respect the Indian captain Virat Kohli’s opinion like everybody’s opinion. The former Indian World Cup-winning captain said this before receiving the ‘Bharat Gaurav’ award, East Bengal FC’s highest honour.

Kapil Dev said, “That’s his (Kohli) opinion. We have to respect everybody’s opinion.”
Earlier, another CAC member Anshuman Gaekwad claimed that the BCCI could take Kohli’s view as a note, but they can’t take it. The former Indian cricketer and coach added that the CAC would start the process with an open-minded.

Shantha Rangaswamy feels Virat Kohli has the right to give his opinion
Meanwhile, the former Indian women’s captain Shantha Rangaswamy claimed that the CAC’s collective view would determine the next coach. However, she also claimed that the Indian captain Virat Kohli has the right to share his opinion.
Rangaswamy told PTI, “Virat is the captain and he is entitled to his opinion but it will be the collective opinion of the three of us (CAC) which will determine who the next head coach is.
“I read some media reports and I endorse Anshuman’s view on the matter. We need to look at all aspects — his experience, the ability to bring the team together and how a good a strategist one is.”
According to the media reports, the BCCI has received around 2,000 applications for the head coach post.
