ToggleAustralian cricketer Cameron White, on Friday, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket — because he believes that he has played enough professional cricket. He last played for his national team in 2018 but was playing in leagues and domestic tournaments.
Cameron White made the debut in Australia national team in 2005. He found success in white-ball cricket but had failed to maintain his spot in the Test team which saw him making a debut in 2008.
White went on to play 91 ODIs and 47 T20Is, scoring 2072 and 984 runs respectively. But he played only four Test matches and was dropped from the team in the same year in which he made a debut.
I’ve definitely finished up playing: Cameron White

The 37-year-old Cameron said that he was sure to hang his boot from the game after he had failed to perform in the last edition of the Big Bash League. Playing for Strikers, he could manage only 36 runs from six matches at a mere average of 12 last season. However, the former cricketer expressed that he had played enough of cricket so his time was up.
“I’ve definitely finished up playing, that’s for sure. I had a one-year playing contract with the Strikers. I only played a handful of games with them last year and in those games, I would have needed to play really well to get another deal,” White was quoted as saying in cricket.com.au.
White will focus on coaching:

Cameron wants to live the second life as the coach. He is firm to take up coaching as his profession. Apart from playing, White also played a mentoring role in the Strikers’ team.
“To be totally honest, I’m pretty content. I think my time is definitely up, I’ve had enough from a playing point of view and I’m ready to focus on coaching,” he stated.
“I’m just keen to get involved in it (coaching) and give it a go. I don’t know if I’ll be any good at it. I’ve enjoyed the bits and pieces I’ve done so far. Part of my role with the Strikers last year involved coaching,” he added.
When White was a 17-year-old, he picked up a four-wicket haul on his first-class debut. Back then, Shane Warne, his Victoria teammate, was delighted with him. He had heaped praise on Cameron White’s stature and was firm that he would become a successful cricketer.
