I Can Go Through The Innings Without Hitting a Six: Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar rescued India from an out and out tricky situation to help the team win the second ODI. He, along with MS Dhoni, steadied the Indian innings and saw the team through till the end to win the match from the jaws of defeat against Sri Lanka.
Bhuvneshwar is known for his batting skills in the domestic circuit and has played some crucial innings for India in the past. Bhuvneshwar has become a regular name in the Indian ODI outfit.
Bhuvneshwar himself is very confident about his batting skills. He has opened for Uttar Pradesh in Ranji Trophy cricket. The current Indian top order is in sublime form, so the lower order hasn’t been tested more often. But this recent performance by Bhuvneshwar has instilled confidence of the management in the lower order.
In a fun interview with Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar told him that he could go on through the whole innings without hitting a six or going aerial.
When Rohit asked on what did Dhoni say when he went on to bat, he said:
“No. Not really. When I went in he (Dhoni) just told me, just play what your game is. That was the ideal situation for me as I am not the kind of batsman who can hit sixes but you know I can go through the innings and score a few runs. I know that if I can play 15-20 overs, it was a good chance for us to win the match.”
On his tactics to tackle Dhananjaya he said:
“It was easier to bat on the pitch than it was to bowl. I focused on playing the googly that the former delivered.”
But he accepted the fact that he was afraid to face Malinga at that time:
“I wanted to make most of the situation. I was unable to pick up those deliveries during the Indian Premier League.”
