India lost their opening two matches in the Carlton-Mid ODI series and are in the brink of exit from the tournament until India face Australia in the second round of matches. The rain gods opened up and gave India a lifeline when the catch at the Sydney Cricket Ground was called-off and gave India their much needed points. With two points in their kitty, India’s chances of qualifying to the Finals depends on their match against England on 30 January 2015. If India manages to win against the Poms, India will sneak into the finals. India’s victory margin does not matter for India as India need to leapfrog England’s points.

Currently, India are at the third position with 2 points whereas England are 3 points above India with 5 points. So, in all possibilities, India are set to play a virtual Quarter-Finals against England at the WACA, Perth later this week.
