The Story
Former cricketer Madan Lal criticised BCCI’s recent decision to reward the selectors. A day ago, it was announced by the apex cricketing board in India that the selection panel of both men’s and women’s team will receive a cash reward of 15 Lakhs for the respective team’s outstanding performances in the recent past.
The decision was taken at the meeting between the Committee of Administrators (COA) and the BCCI’s top office-bearers.
Men and women Build Domination over Competitors
The men’s cricket team led by Virat Kohli has been on a high in the last couple of years. The rise to the top of the Test rankings and the journey till the finals of the Champions Trophy hosted in England are some of the highlights of their strong performances.
The women’s cricket team, which is led by Mithali Raj, also has been quite dominating and have created a new “fearless” identity for themselves. Their performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup, where they reached the finals in London, has been the biggest high point of their recent antics. The loss in the finals was heart-wrenching but overall it had a very positive effect on the fans who lauded their efforts to defy the odds and reach so close to the pole position.
Madan Lal Dislikes the Move
But, the move to reward the selectors has left Madan Lal unimpressed who felt it was unnecessary, as it’s the ultimately their core function to select the best possible squad.
Expressing surprise, he tweeted:
“Surprise to read that selectors are rewarded 15L to pick the best team. They supposed to pick the best team not bad team.”

The tweet did not draw much support. His followers argued that the system of rewarding outstanding performances shouldn’t exist in the first place if Madan Lal’s tweet was to be assumed sensible.
