In the 9th match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson scored half-centuries and led the team to set the decent target of 266 runs against Bangladesh at Cardiff.
In reply, Bangladesh had an unfortunate start as Tamim Iqbal was out for a duck while Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman were out for three and eight runs, respectively. Mushfiqur Rahim was also out after scoring 14 runs. However, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah handled the pressure and gave their best at the crunch situation.
The allrounder Hasan and Mahmudullah stitched 224 runs partnership to thrash New Zealand’s bowling line up. Their partnership became a nightmare for the Kiwis, who lost the game by five wickets though they had early success.
