Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals ‘NOT’ Banned by the SC
In the past few hours, there are many rumours emerging out from the social media that both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are banned. But the reality is, there is no news on it and the teams are still in the fray to play in IPL 8. Ever since the Supreme Court announced the judgement of the IPL Spot-Fixing, there are some news going round regarding this after the judges declared that Super Kings’ former team principal Gurunath Meiyappan and Royals’ owner Raj Kundra were involved in betting. But this is what the judges said with respect to the fate of the two teams:
The court acknowledges the BCCI has the power to decide the fate of RR and CSK in light of its findings, but it cannot allow the BCCI to do so in the current context. So, an independent committee has been set up to decide the future of both franchises. A three member Committee constituting former Judges RM Lodha, Ashok Bhan and RV Ravindran will decide on the fate of Gurunath Meiyappan, Raj Kundra & franchisee.
Till the verdict is out, the teams will remain part of IPL. Teams changing hands to a new owner cannot be ruled out.
