Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be taking on Gujarat Titans in the seventh game of the ongoing IPL 2024. The highly-awaited CSK vs GT game is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday (March 26).
The upcoming game will be the first meeting between the two teams after the IPL 2023 final. Both the teams have started their campaigns in IPL 2024 with a win. While CSK thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the tournament-opener, GT began their campaign with a thrilling 6-run win over five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. Before the game begins. we are taking a look at the probable playing XIs of both the teams.
CSK Playing XI:
Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Rachin Ravindra
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra will be opening for the defending champions. Gaikwad did not have the best of outings with the bat against RCB as he was dismissed for run-a-ball 15 and will be looking to score big against GT. On the other hand, Ravindra looked really convincing and raced away to 37 off just 14 balls before being dismissed.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Ravindra Jadeja, Sameer Rizvi , MS Dhoni (wk)
The likes of Ajinkya Rahane (27), Daryl Mitchell (22) got the starts against RCB but could not convert them while Shivam Dube (34*) and Ravindra Jadeja (25*) played unbeaten knocks to take their team home. On the other hand, MS Dhoni and Sameer Rizvi did not get the chance to bat in the previous game.
Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Mustafizur Rahman, Tushar Deshpande
CSK are likely to play the game with the same bowling lineup after the win over RCB. Mustafizur Rahman starred with the ball in the last game, taking 4 wickets for 29 runs. On the other hand, the other three bowlers – Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande could not make a good impression and will be looking to bounce back against GT.
GT Playing XI:
Openers: Shubman Gill (c), Wriddhiman Saha (wk)
Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha are set to open the innings for GT against CSK. In the last game against MI, Saha was out for 19 while Gill scored 31. Against a tough opposition, the GT openers would be eyeing a good performance to give their team a solid start.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Sai Sudharsan, Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahul Tewatia
Sai Sudharsan top-scored for GT against MI, scoring 45 while the likes of Vijay Shankar, David Miller and Azmatullah Omarzai could not get going. Rahul Tewatia played a fine cameo of 22 runs that helped GT cross the 160-run mark.
Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, R Sai Kishore, Spencer Johnson
GT are also unlikely to change their bowling lineup after the win over MI. Rashid Khan gave away just 23 runs in his four overs while Umesh Yadav picked up 2 wickets in the final over and defended 8 runs off 4 balls. Spencer Johnson conceded 25 runs in 2 overs but picked up 2 wickets while Sai Kishore conceded 24 in 4 overs and picked up the big wicket of Rohit Sharma.
