The CSK vs KKR game is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday (April 8).
After starting their season with two wins, CSK have lost their last two games and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. On the other hand, KKR have started their season with three wins in a row and will be looking to extend their winning run. And before the game gets underway, we take a look at the probable playing elevens of both the teams.
CSK Playing XI:
Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra failed to fire in the last game against SRH, scoring 26 and 12 runs respectively. Ravindra had looked in good touch during the home games and will be hoping to regain his form in Chennai. On the other hand, Gaikwad will be desperate to lead his team from the very front in the tough game.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(w)
Barring Shivam Dube, no other CSK middle-order batsman or allrounder managed to make an impact with the bat against SRH. Dube smashed 45 off 24 balls to give the innings some much-needed impetus but others failed to bat in the same manner.
Rahane scored 35 runs but did it in 30 balls. Ravindra Jadeja had to play 23 balls for his 31 runs while Daryl Mitchell only scored 13 runs in 11 balls. MS Dhoni faced two balls and managed to score only 1 while Moeen Ali did not bat but picked up two wickets.
Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana
Deepak Chahar picked up 1 wicket for 32 runs while Tushar Deshpande conceded 20 runs in his two overs and did not pick up any wicket. Matheesha Pathirana missed the last game due to a niggle and is expected to play the upcoming game.
KKR Playing XI:
Openers: Phil Salt, Sunil Narine
Phil Salt and Sunil Narine are set to open the innings for KKR once again. In the last game, Sunil Narine blew DC away with his whirlwind knock of 85 runs from just 39 balls and will be eyeing another big knock. Salt, on the other hand, scored 18 and will be looking to bounce back
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh
Among the middle-order batters, 18-year old Angkrish Raghuvanshi impressed on his debut, scoring 54 off just 27 balls. Andre Russell scored 41 off 19 balls and claimed a wicket as well. Rinku Singh slammed 26 off just 8 balls.
Captain Shreyas Iyer was out for 18 but he did not really have much to do with the bat while Venkatesh Iyer remained unbeaten on 5. Ramandeep Singh was out for 2 as well.
Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy
Among the bowlers, Mitchell Starc picked up 2 wickets while Vaibhav Arora picked up 3 wickets in his first game of the season. Varun Chakravarthy claimed three wickets as well.
