Indian team is all set to enter a new millennium as the Indian boys are set to mark their appearance in 500th Test match. The occasion will be celebrated with great pomp and show with BCCI organising a jamboree before the start of the game. BCCI will honour the former captains of Indian cricket team and will organise a dinner in their respect.
The first Test Match will also kick off long home season consisting of 13 Test matches. Surprisingly, Feroz Shah Kotla has not been allotted even a single Test match out of 13 Test matches that are to be played in next 6 months. The ground located in heart of Delhi has just been allotted just one ODI which will be played on October 20.
“We should have been given at least one Test if not two.
“It is a long season and Delhi is one of the permanent Test centres. I feel all centres which have been hosting Test matches for more than 50 years (like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata) should get a Test every home season,” former India opener Chauhan told PTI.
While allotting venues for the games, BCCI follows rotation policy but looks like BCCI has not followed the trend this time. It’s really surprising to see that Feroz Shah Kotla, one of the iconic grounds in India has not been allotted even a single Test match but looking closely into the matter it looks like DDCA is itself responsible for it.
Last year when South Africa toured India, DDCA was to host the visitors in a T20 game but instead, the state association refused and also denied to field their team. The match was played at Palam Ground.
Last month, when BCCI organised pink ball Duleep trophy games, BCCI asked DDCA to host the final of the tournament but DDCA again showed incapability to host the game. These two refusals have surely gone against DDCA.
DDCA last hosted a Test match last year in December when it hosted the fourth and final Test match between India and South Africa. Indian team went on to win the fourth and the final Test match.
