The three main perpetrators of the ball-tampering saga, which has completely eclipsed the world of cricket, Smith, Warner, and Bancroft, received moral support from the Universe Boss- Chris Gayle.
Shortly after CA Chief James Sutherland visited the Rainbow Nation to probe further on the infamous ‘Sandpaper Gate,’ both Warner and Smith were handed a one-year ban from playing cricket for Australia.
Further, Bancroft was banned for as many as nine months for playing competitive cricket. The West Indian opener, freshly off a successful campaign in Zimbabwe for the ICC WC Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, reckoned that a 1-year ban on the two pillars of Australian cricket is ‘harsh.’
Also, Gayle believes that three disgraced Australian cricketers have to live with the stain on their reputation.
Gayle suggested that the time off should be used by the three players for introspection as there a substantial portion of their lives ahead. In conclusion, Chris Gayle invited the three cricketers to visit Jamaica.
“Oi Oi Oi! It’s not my business but it’s done and dusted! I think 1 year is harsh! But to the 3 youngsters, y’all gonna have to live with this – reflect quickly and know there’s a lot of life ahead so don’t stop here! Feel free to come see me in Jamaica ?? anytime! #JustSaying,“
