Chris Gayle opted himself out of CSK clash says Iqbal Abdulla
If there was a dream T20 team, Chris Gayle would be there more often than not to open the innings. Playing the franchise from Chennai, Royal Challengers Bangalore opted to leave Chris Gayle out of the starting 11 and this raised quite a few questions in the cricketing circle.
Having not performed well over the years against Chennai many felt that Gayle was dropped for the game so as to give the team a solid start. There are also rumours that he was dropped for his performance against Mumbai. There are also people who said that Chris Gayle was dropped to make the team better.
However, Iqbal Abdullah from the RCB camp said that Chris Gayle who was not on field for the game against Chennai opted himself out and that it was his decision not play. He also explained that Gayle wanted to stay fit and fresh for the rest of the season and that the player took this game as a chance to freshen up. He also added that the whole team is hoping to see the best of Gayle in the coming games.
This decision to sit Gayle out back fired as RCB are now lying at the bottom of the table for this season and will play the table toppers Rajasthan Royals away from home. It is hard to see Gayle not playing in that one.
