Chris Gayle raised 26k euros for Women's Indian Association 1

The controversial star of cricket Chris Gayle in recent times has drawn flak for his derogatory comments against the women.

In 2015 Big Bash League T20 in Australia he offered post match beer to a Channel 9 journalist Mel Laughlin. But the woman journalist visibly looked embarrassed, so Gayle said, “Don’t blush baby”.  The left-handed Jamaican batsman’s phrase drew criticism from all around the globe. But later Gayle, who came under huge pressure, offered a half-hearted apology to Mel.

However, Gayle was never shaken by that incident. In 2016 IPL his interview to The Times journalist former England woman cricketer Charlotte Edwards in Bangalore sparked another big controversy. The phrase “ I have big bat” angered many and left Edwards embarrassed.

But Gayle stood to his point and his own thoughts.

After these women related controversy, Gayle’s book “Six Machine” published where he didn’t dedicate a paragraph for the controversy but he left some controversial words in his book. He said Brian Lara was moody and he was worried  when the former was close to his triple hundred against South Africa at St. John’s. He said Lara after getting out for only four, started reading a book, but as Gayle’s score was running towards triple hundred Lara was looking worried. Gayle said Lara was worried because there was a possibility  that Gayle may get past his highest score 400*.

But controversy apart, Gayle, on the father’s day, raised 26,000 euros for the Women’s Indian Association Charity in London.  There was a contest also. Two lucky winners of the  event will get an opportunity to spend two hours with Gayle.

Though Gayle’s recent words and his lifestyle often rip him with criticism, but the has no regret for his lifestyle.

Gayle, who was born in a poverty ridden family and grew up in a shack covered up with tin and wood, did many good things for the humanity as well.

The Women’s Indian Association  was founded on May 8, 1917, in Adyar, Chennai, by a multiethnic group of women. It is India’s first major feminist organization. This organization work for women’s empowerment  in the society and against the caste and creed.
