Chris Lynn To Undergo Shoulder Surgery; May Return For BBL

Australian batsman Chris Lynn is all set to undergo shoulder surgery and in all likeliness will miss the Australian summer. The same issue has been troubling the right-handed batsman from past three years and this time, he is set to get the issue fixed permanently.

Lynn landed on his shoulder awkwardly during IPL in the game against Mumbai Indians and did more damage to it. After playing just two games, Lynn sat out for the most part of the tournament. Though he did not return home, as Kolkata Knight Riders waited for their opener to get fit.

He made his comeback against Royal Challengers Bangalore after almost a month with a half-century and went onto play next four games before KKR lost the second qualifier to Mumbai Indians and was ruled out.

“I have been battling through each tournament and umming and arr-ing at training but the time has come to get it done. I was getting sorer and sorer after training. I am pretty confident I will be back for the Big Bash,” he said. “I will cost myself a bit but physically and mentally it will mean a lot to get it done,” Lynn told The Courier Mail.

The attacking right-hand batsman forced his way in the ODI team in the series against Pakistan, riding on his performance in the Big Bash League where he scored 309 runs in five innings at an average of 154.50. But after playing just one game, he was ruled out of the ODI series and Chappell-Hadlee trophy due to a neck injury.

He made his comeback in the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy but was not included in playing XI in any of the three rain-marred games played by Australia.

The 27-year old batsman will now look to get the shoulder injury cured to the fullest so as he can make a comeback in the international scenario. Meanwhile, he is all set to miss the Carribean Premier League due to the surgery but he is hopeful of making a comeback for the Big Bash league 2017/18 season.
