Chris Rogers: Australian fans should be patient with new-look team

Retired opening batsman of Australia, Chris Rogers, urged the Australian supporters to show patience this summer. He warned that the new Test players will take time to adjust to face the challenges offered to them by International Cricket. Five senior players of the Australian team have retired during and after their 2-3 loss against England in the Ashes. Cricket Australia postponed the Australia tour to Bangladesh which would have been Steve Smith’s first series as full time Captain.

The 15 man squad of the earlier tour included10 batsman who have played 10 or fewer test matches and three of them has an experience of playing more than 30 matches. Mitchell Johnson, David Warner and Josh Hazlewood are expected to return to the squad against the Kiwis but still Australians have to find a new opener who can take the spot of Rogers and so also someone who can take spot of Clarke in the middle order.

Roger is confident that Australian players have talent that they can fill this breach but they need to be cautious as step from Domestic Cricket to International Cricket is too big. Roger also added that Peter Handscomb and Marcus Stoinis are the two players who will pay the role of crucial elements of Smith’s side in the future.
