CLT20 2014: Kolkata Knightriders vs Hobart Hurricanes preview
The first semi final of the CLT20 2014 will be played between Kolkata Knightriders and Hobart Hurricanes on 2nd October at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium from 4 pm onwards. The pitch will assist the spinners and this will just play into the hands of Kolkata Knightriders.
Kolkata Knightriders have done very less wrong in this year’s CLT20. With a strong top order well backed up by a powerful middle and lower order has been their batting strength. Robin Uthappa has been a sensational for KKR since the 2nd phase of this year’s IPL. Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir and co. have all chipped in with useful knocks. KKR will bank on their spin trio of Sunil Narine, Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav. With the pitch assisting them, they can decide the match on their own.
Perth Scorchers will bank on the explosive trio of Ben Dunk, Aiden Blizzard and Travis Birt to put up a big score. They have led the batting chart for them so far. In the bowling line up, they have a pace trio who can blow away the top order of any team. Ben Hilfenhaus, Doug Bollinger and Ben Laughlin have been their bowling weapon, though Doherty has also played his part.
Sunil Narine was reported for his bowling action and this will play on his mind , and somehow can affect the team. KKR will be spin heavy and if the pitch doesn’t play as expected, it might ruin KKR’s chances.
Hobart Hurricanes rely too much on the 3 batsman and against a team which has got a strong bowling lineup, they might be into trouble. In addition to that , they don’t have wicket takers in the middle overs . Doherty has been economical but has picked up wickets only on sharp turners and only when the batsman have gone after him.
With the pitch assisting the spinners, Hobart Hurricanes will love to see more from their spinners.
Prediction: With the way both teams have fared so far, it should not be a problem for Kolkata Knightriders to win this one. Our prediction is that they have got 80-20 percent chance of winning this game.
