The four-member panel of the Committee of Administrators (COA), headed by Vinod Rai, on Saturday submitted its first status report in the Supreme Court after having the compliance report from the CEO of the Board Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rahul Johri.
The report was submitted in a bid to implement the Lodha Panel Recommendations after the COA administrators were announced to monitor the happenings in the BCCI in January this year.
Earlier, Rai had stated the Lodha Panel reforms will be completely implemented in next four to five months, which further includes the State Cricket Associations and district level clubs to make a smooth process, which will further start the functioning normally. Johri submitted the report on February 10.
However, a copy of the affidavit was filed by the now sacked BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke in November 2016.
It was Amitabh Choudhary, who pleaded for seeking clarity regarding the formation of the COA and its role in the administration.
Earlier, the apex body accepted to hear Choudhary’s plea after he submitted the petition in February.
However, the reports suggested the petition filed by Choudhary had given some sought of impression that they’re bound to manage the board while “passing the directions”.
The reports further suggested the COA status report came further to draw attention at the time when the authorities were bringing the Jharkhand based office-bearer’s understanding into consideration while questioning the apex-body appointed panel and taking the ‘conditional’ undertaking to implement the reforms in state cricket association.
The status report pinpointed the reforms suggested by the apex body-led Lodha Panel are yet to be implemented by a major chunk of the cricket associations in the states.
