Comeback Franchise Rajasthan Royals Looking For A New Name
The one-time IPL winning franchise, Rajasthan Royals, is all set to make a comeback in the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League. The franchise was banned in 2015 for a period of two years and remained absent from IPL 2016 and 2017. Next year though, the fans will be able to see their Men in Blue back on the field. However, there can be can be when they have to spell a new name to call out their team as the franchise has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a change in existing name.

The move from the owners might be to shrug off the tainted image of the franchise, which it earned after its name emerged out in the fixing saga. Along with the change in name, the owners are also looking forward to shifting their home base out of Jaipur. The current position of Rajasthan Cricket Association is deemed to be the reason as the state board is banned by BCCI. Despite Lalit Modi’s decision to stay away from cricket administration as of now, BCCI is still not ready to look into the matter.
In short, the fans will see two big changes in the upcoming edition of IPL when Rajasthan Royals make a comeback in the next edition of IPL.

Till now, there has been no official word from BCCI regarding the auction of players in the next season. As per the rules, all the players will go into the pool of auction but there can be the case when BCCI might allow a franchise to retain few players. Since Rajasthan Royals was not the part of the league in past two years, they have to look for new players.
Along with Rajasthan Royals, the formerly MS Dhoni-led side franchise Chennai Super Kings will also make a comeback in the upcoming edition of IPL.
