Putting all speculations to rest, the Board Of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed through a press release that the IPL auction for the tenth season would take place on February 20th in Ritz-Carlton hotel in Bengaluru. More than 750 players will be going under the hammer for getting pick by any one of the eight franchises present over there.
The initial date for the auction was decided to be February 4th, which was postponed by a four-member panel elected by the Supreme Court of India to run the boards administration on temporary grounds.
The board also announced there would be a day long IPL Franchise workshop on the following day after the auction. With teams allowed to pick the maximum of 27 players in their squad (including nine overseas), a maximum of 76 players (including 28 overseas) can be bought at the auction to fill up the quota.
Budget wise, Kings XI Punjab have the maximum amount of balance left (INR 23.35 Cr) followed by Delhi Daredevils (INR 23.1 Cr) whereas two-time champions Mumbai Indians have the least (INR 11.55 Cr) left in their kitty.
Last year, BCCI released a list of players who were retained and left out ahead of the auction. The IPL season 10 is scheduled to commence from April 5.
