Confirmed: Gambhir Released, Ishant Sharma To Be With Indian Team

All the uncertainties that loomed over the participation of Gautam Gambhir in Ranji Trophy have now come to an end as he has been released by BCCI to participate in the next Ranji trophy game for Delhi, which is scheduled to be at Wayand against Rajasthan. However, Ishant Sharma has not been released and he will continue to be with Indian players. There were speculations that Ishant may not be released from the squad as fitness has always been a concern with fast bowlers.

Tomorrow, Gautam Gambhir will be opening the innings along with Shikhar Dhawan with must Unmukt Chand set to get a demotion in the batting order. There are also rumours that Gambhir will lead the team as Unmukt Chand has himself said that he want Gambhir to lead the team if he presents to give the services.

Surely, the presence of Gautam Gambhir will boost the confidence of Delhi but on the other hand, bowling is still a weak section for Delhi where they have to work hard. Availability of Ishant Sharma could have really helped this team.

With selectors yet to announce squad for rest of the three Tests, it will be an opportunity for Gambhir to score here and at least retain his place in 15-member squad.

There is also news that Karun Nair has also been released to join Karnataka squad for their next game against Odisha which will be played in Delhi at Palam A stadium.
