The Board of Control for Cricket in India President Anurag Thakur’s statement of not resuming the cricketing ties with Pakistan after the terrorist attack has not gone down too well with Himachal Youth Congress president Vikramaditya Singh.
Following the terrorist attack on Indian Army, Mr. Thakur said that even the thought of reviving the bilateral ties with Pakistan in recent future is not appropriate. However, Vikramaditya Singh has accused him of “double standards” for his statement.
“We had opposed the T-20 match between India and Pakistan at Dharamsala after the terrorist attack at Pathankot Army base but Anurag Thakur was in favour of the match and played politics but now he is opposing bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan,” said Singh.
“During that time, a terrorist attack was carried out at Army camp in Pathankot but Anurag was more concerned about the India-Pak cricket match rather than the country. Now another major terrorist attack took place at Uri and Anurag is now talking about playing a cricket match with Pakistan,” he said.
The politician said that the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and Anurag Thakur are only thinking about making money.
“The office bearers of HPCA and other BJP leaders conveniently forgot that two brave soldiers of the Kangra district were killed in the Pathankot attack as the prime concern of Anurag at that time was to make money by organising the match at Dharamsala,” he alleged.
