The suspended former Australian skipper, Steven Smith bags yet another exciting contract. Recently, Barbados Tridents signed him for the forthcoming season of Caribbean Premier League.

The flamboyant top-order batsman has replaced the all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who is unavailable due to personal reasons. Steven Smith is the second suspended player to join CPL after David Warner signed for St. Lucia Stars.

Meanwhile, the unavailability of Shakib Al Hasan is a big loss to Barbados Tridents.

A player like Shakib is always a tough job to get replaced. The Bangladeshi can offer his remarkable talent in all the departments of the game.

“It is a huge blow to lose Shakib for the tournament but in Steve Smith, we have a truly world-class replacement who can help to bring power to our batting lineup. As a man who has played cricket at the highest level all over the world, we are very confident that Smith will be a big success with the Tridents,” Tridents coach Robin Singh said.

Steven Smith will join the likes of South Africa’s Hashim Amla and Kiwis’s stalwart Martin Guptill. They will be led by Windies’ Test and ODI skipper, Jason Holder.

Steven Smith vs David Warner:

Meanwhile, the tourney will also see the clash between Steven Smith and David Warner for a couple of times in group stages. Both the stalwarts will lock horns on August 17th and September 2nd.

Earlier, David Warner was called in as the replacement for D’Arcy Short by St Lucia Stars. Luckily, David Warner got his fellow Australian, Brad Hodge in the camp who will coach the Warner-involved franchise.
