Fast bowler Irfan Pathan is in all sorts of trouble as reports hold him responsible for defying the rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Recently, the left-arm pacer has pushed his name for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2019) draft. Thus, it is believed to have come across following a lack of information and advice, respectively.

As per the regulations, players should be retired for featuring in overseas Twenty20 leagues. Earlier, the board has vehemently opposed the participation of Indian players in the similar overseas competition like Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 34-year-old Vadodara-born Irfan is yet to announce his retirement from international cricket. However, he is representing Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) State team as a player-cum-coach.

The BCCI rules clear the way for a player if he has announced his retirement from the domestic circuit too.

According to the Times of India, Pathan has consulted BCCI official before forwarding his for the draft.

“The Baroda-based cricketer had sought the opinion of a senior BCCI official before forwarding his name for the CPL draft,” ToI maintained in its report.

However, the opinion which is yet to be confirmed suggested that Pathan will be handed a back-dated retirement announcement. Meanwhile, it is subjected to his selection from the CPL 2019 draft.

A source, while taking to ToI, has scathed the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). The source revealed the two-member committee is harming the career of players.

“The CoA (Committee of Administrators) clearly has no idea of what is happening. It’s a pity how they’re functioning. In return, the only thing happening is that cricketers — former and present — are being harmed in terms of their careers,” said BCCI sources.

Also, the source in the know of thing remarked Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji could shed light on who has suggested Pathan on making his name available for the CPL draft.

“Who advised Pathan to forward his name for the CPL draft? Only Vinod Rai or Diana Edulji can answer,” sources added.

Besides, 536 players have partaken in the CPL draft as Pathan has turned out as only Indian in the list.

Since 2003, Pathan has represented India in 120 ODIs, 29 Tests and 24 T20Is. He has bagged 301 wickets across formats for Team India.
