Though the novel COVID-19 or coronavirus has stopped the daily activity, and have created an uncertain future, the Cricket Australia (CA) is still hopeful to run their upcoming home cricket summer successfully. The CA is also trying to organise the five-match Test series against India.
It is an important year for Australian cricket, and the beginning of their new cricket summer is still a good time away. While the country successfully hosted the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in last February-March, they will also host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 from 18th October to 15th November 2020.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 was played under the record-breaking spectators’ presence. However, the coronavirus pandemic has created the doubtful future of the upcoming home summer. But the CA still believes that the situation will be better and their forthcoming home summer will run successfully.
CA chief executive Kevin Roberts said according to AP, “If you contemplate the prospect of the international season in particular being affected, we have an issue of (losing revenue of) hundreds of millions of dollars on our hands. We’ll be doing everything possible to launch and stage a season in 2020-21.”

Also, India have a plan for the full tour in Australia during the forthcoming summer. Apart from playing the three-match T20I series and three-match ODI series against the hosts along with participating in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, India have also a plan for the four-match Test series against Australia. The CA is not only confident for this upcoming India tour of Australia, but they are also trying to add another Test in the fixture to make it five-match series.
Roberts added,”We won’t rule anything out in terms of the Indian series. Along with the BCCI and Indian players, we want to stage a series that inspires the cricket world, whether or not there are people in the stands. We need to face into all possibilities. Fortunately, we have a little bit of time to work out scenarios.”
However, even if the upcoming Australian summer goes on perfectly, there is still a lesser chance to allow the spectators on the ground this summer.
