Following the humiliating turn of events at Newlands, Cape Town, Cricket Australia (CA)Chief James Sutherland, along with general manager and legal counsel, is scheduled to travel to South Africa to investigate further into the ball tampering incident.
According to reports, captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner might be handed life-ban for premeditating actions of ball tampering and cheating.
Sutherland stated that Roy and Howard arrived in the morning to probe further into details of the Sandpaper Gate.
“Iain Roy and Pat Howard arrive in Cape Town this morning local time, and Iain will immediately conduct his inquiries around the specifics of the ball tampering incident,” commented James Sutherland, according to CA release.
The CA lynchpin, himself, is slated to travel to Jo’burg later in the day. Sutherland convenes with the personnel present at Cape Town and to conclude.
“I am travelling to Johannesburg this evening and will arrive Tuesday morning local time to meet Iain. In order To understand the findings of the investigation to that point and to determine recommended outcomes,” stated Sutherland further.

Recent events at Newlands severely stained the reputation of Australian cricket. As a result, Sutherland faces the brunt of the mounting pressure from the Australian fraternity and administration.
“We know Australians want answers and we will keep you updated on our findings and next steps. as a matter of urgency,” added Sutherland.
Also, CA might be looking at a probable pull out of his key sponsors. These include giants such as Magellan, Commonwealth Bank, and Qantas.
“The Cricket Australia board has been fully updated on the issue. It supports James travelling to South Africa to manage the response to the investigation currently underway,” affirmed David Peever, Chairman of Cricket Australia.
“We expect to be able to fully update the Australian public on the findings on Wednesday morning. (Tuesday evening in Johannesburg). Also, We understand that everyone wants answers. but we must follow our due diligence before any further decisions are made,” concluded Peever.
