Cricket Australia said on Thursday that the three-match ODI series between the Australian and Indian women’s teams, originally scheduled for January 2021, has been postponed until next season.
In a press release, Cricket Australia added that they are planning to expand the ODI tour to include an additional three Twenty20 Internationals as well.

Nick Hockley who is the CA’s Interim CEO, said that the Australian women’s team are looking forward to hosting India next season.
“We are very hopeful of delivering an expanded schedule between the Australian and Indian women’s teams for next season, which would be an outstanding result for fans in both countries,” Hockley said.
“We had initially hoped to play India this summer, however the impact of the global pandemic made it necessary to postpone until next season,” Hockley added.

“It will be wonderful to once again host the Indian women’s team, who were center stage for that unforgettable ICC T20 World Cup final at the MCG in March, and to do so with an expanded schedule from what was originally planned.”
Dates and venues will be confirmed in due course the release further added.
Cricket Australia Announce Postponement Of 3 WODI Matches Slated On January 2021
The India women’s cricket team was scheduled to play against Australia women’s cricket team in January 2021. The tour should have consisted of three Women’s One Day International (WODI) matches. However, in December 2020, the tour was put into jeopardy when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not want to commit to the schedule before Cricket Australia announced the postponement. The 3 ODIs were originally scheduled on 22nd, 25th and 28th January.

India women made its Test debut in 1976, against the West Indies, and it is One Day International (ODI) debut at the 1978 World Cup, which it hosted. The Indian women’s team has made the World Cup final on three occasions, losing to Australia by 98 runs in 2005 and losing to England by 9 runs in 2017.
India has also made the semi-finals on three other occasions, in 1997, 2000, and 2009 besides appearing in the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 on three occasions (2009, 2010, and 2018).
