Mike Hussey has been just like red wine – getting better with age. The Australian veteran has been winning hearts wherever he goes, and his record in any form of the game just seconds that. After commencing the 2015/16 Big Bash League (BBL) on a high, Hussey has now been asked to act as a consultant for the Australian team, for the upcoming Boxing Day Test against the West Indies.

The primary reason behind Cricket Australia asking for Hussey’s services has been to help the side readjust to five day cricket, after a few individuals participated in the Big Bash League. Hussey, who himself has played all the formats with sheer ease, will now be helping the Australian cricketers to refocus on test cricket after a brief stint in the BBL.

“It takes time and that’s why it’s difficult for Test players coming back for one-off T20 games to make the adjustments. To me, I thought it took a few weeks to be fully adjusted between different formats. Just trying to get in line with the ball, let more balls go and play straighter in Tests is not easy,” Hussey was quoted saying.

“It can be a bit of a mental thing. Going back to a Test match, youre almost trying to bat more properly if you like and you can be a bit more inhibited in your stroke play. It can be hard to deal with but the more you do it, the more experienced and hopefully better at it youre going to get,” said Hussey.
