The Indian Premier League is often all about the glam, sham and bang of the sport but hidden underneath are stories of changed lives.
The current IPL auction has seen teams around the country spend big on players who are not proven a the highest level and this kind of business will only give struggling players a chance to showcase their talent at the highest level.
The auction today saw M Siraj, the son of an autodriver, realize 4.2cr in the auction from the Sunrisers Hyderabad but that is not the only deal that is making the IPL more useful to the domestic circuit.
Thangarasu Natarajan, one of the many players sold today, has a story of his own.

Coming from a background which is so humble that his mother runs a streetside stall while his father works in a saree manufacturing unit, Natarajan has 4 siblings he has to take care of but this auction has completely turned his life around.
He played for the famous club Jolly Rovers before shining for Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu premier league and was snapped up by KIXP in the auction earlier today.
He was ecstatic about joining a new team and talking to the media after the auction, he said, “It seems unreal. I never thought I would play in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, let alone the IPL. Very thankful that it has happened.”
And one Indian international was full of joy, seeing such a story.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is not the most active on social media, took it to Twitter to congratulate the 25- year old and went on to take a dig at the state of the sport in our country.
He tweeted: “Cricket has turned the life of T.Natarajan from the interiors of TN.If only more sectors in our country could do that, we would have grown.”

The IPL is trying to reduce the rift between the domestic circuit and its own squads and these kind of stories will only improve its brand value.
Ashwin did not stop there. He retweeted a story of the player and asked many to read it to try and understand the effect of this auction on his life.
