Under the deep blue sky and on the lush green field This tournament is one of the most successful grassroots tournaments in Australia. This tournament is comprised of 18 teams, including Melbourne University. The tournament was initiated in 1856. The players who play well in this tournament get selected for Victoria Bushrangers which play in Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup. Victoria was the first team to win the Sheffield Shield.
The Victorian Premier League under sweltering heat and the scorching sun are paid off on several occasions as Victoria is the second most Sheffield Shield winning team. They have won the trophy 30 times while New South Wales have won the trophy 46 times, the most in the history of domestic cricket.
