Bangladesh Cricket Board had come hard on its 14 players who had plied their trade in the ICL as it announced a 10-year ban on the player and Aftab Ahmed was one of them. Subsequently, he re-joined the national team after the ban was relaxed for the series against England in 2010. However, it turned out to be his last series for Bangladesh as he could not seal his place in the side.
The right-hander played 16 Test matches, 85 ODIs and 11 T20Is for the national team in which he scored 582, 1954 and 228 runs respectively. He also snared 17 wickets for the Tigers in his International career.
